What steps are you taking with the installation, in detail? I'm running on Win7 x64 as well, but the directions here worked well. The main 2 steps are getting Aali's drivers installed correctly (Make sure during the installation to redirect to C://Windows/Program Files/Square Soft Inc/Final Fantasy and not the Program Files x86 as it tries to default in 7, else some mods such as PRP won't function) and make sure EAX installs correction. There is also a codex you need to install in order to get the movies going, forget the name but its mentioned many times over in the forums and can be found on microsoft's download page. This was enough to get my FF7 running properly. Of course, then I found this page and the qhimm forums, and now I can't stop modding.

Quick suggestion, since I've been watching the player and think the custom Tifa, Barrett and boss upgrades are sick, but can't actually click to them. Are there links available to the other mods being showcased?

I tried in Win7 64 which failed with black screens. Installed all known mods and nothing. Tried in VMware with Win98, Win2K, and also Win XP which all failed due to emulation issues (that was in Linux Mint 9). Virtual Box also failed in mint9.
I ended up reinstalling winXP Sp3 on my Lenovo z60M and all the patches which works like a charm.
